  5. fought the release from prison of Randall Dale Adams, despite an
  6. appeals-court ruling overturning Adams' conviction for the 1976
  7. slaying of police officer Robert Wood; by his superior, District
  8. Attorney John Vance; in Dallas. After spending 12 1/2 years in
  9. prison, Adams was freed in March, partly because of evidence
  10. unearthed by Errol Morris in his documentary film The Thin Blue
  11. Line. In his last-minute effort to keep Adams behind bars, Scott
  12. attacked the judge who reviewed the case as being biased in
  13. Adams' favor.
